“A gin with character and style, the floral notes from the thyme and sweetness from vanilla are perfectly balanced with the delicate touch of pine and spice of peppercorns. Delightful in a long drink and rather special in a cocktail”. That’s what Michel Roux Jr. says on the bottle of his gin, and who are we to disagree? We don’t have any stars from that tyre company. He’s pictured holding that same bottle of gin on the label, which presumably has a picture of Roux holding the gin, which would also have a picture of Roux holding the bottle… and so on, creating mind-bending gin-ception potential.
Nelsons Gin is the brainchild of one man, and his name isnt Nelson, its Neil Harrison! A former chef, he decided to transfer his palate from the world of food to the world of gin, and began his distilling journey in 2014. So, why Nelsons Gin and not Neils? As well as being dedicated to Lord Nelson, an iconic naval hero who, history says, was quite a gin fan, it also pays homage to Harrisons grandfather, Nelson James Harrison. The still used was christened Victory, after Lord Nelsons ship at the Battle of Trafalgar, with the first gin officially released in 2016.
