Lantic Morva Gin is made in Cornwall by Alex Palmer-Samborne, distiller and founder of Skylark Distillery, in a traditional copper still from Portugal, named after his mother, Virginia. He uses botanicals foraged along the Cornish coast chosen for their seasonality, like elderflower, meadowsweet, wild rose petals, hand-foraged sweet clover, birch sap, and raspberry.

Nose: Summer berries, elderflower, juniper, and hints of meadowsweet.

Palate: On the palate it is very elegant, rich and smooth.

Finish: Great elegance and length on the finish.

Distillery Information

Skylark Distillery is an independent small craft distillery in South Cornwall founded by Alex Palmer-Samborne. They are fortunate to operate from a traditional Cornish barn surrounded by the botanicals which help to make Lantic Gin unique. He began his journey with a traditional two litre copper still, an open mind and a self taught process. He researched different distilling techniques, experimented with locally foraged botanicals, and fined tuned their Lantic Gin recipe over many months. Alex then summoned his gin-loving friends for constructive tasting sessions until he felt comfortable that he had finally found a recipe which moved away from a heavy juniper flavoured gin to a more easy drinking gin. Consequently he scaled up production from 1 bottle to just 170 bottles per batch. Lantic Gin derived its name from the picturesque Lantic Bay which is steeped in spirit smuggling history and where a number of the gins botanicals are foraged.
