The first batch of rum from Engenho Novo da Madeira bottled up by that Boutique-y Rum Company is here! This expression comes from a distillery in Portugal founded by a descendant of William Hinton, a well-known sugar producer in the later 19th and early 20th century. In fact, you can see William Hinton (and his pooch) on the label, watching all the rum-making processes come together. This expression is three years old, and was interestingly drawn from an ex-Amarone wine cask!

Nose: Mango, vanilla ice cream with chocolate sauce, subtle floral hints of rose lingering in the background.

Palate: Still packing plenty of vanilla, though now with the richness of maple syrup in the mix.

Finish: Red grape and black tea, with some cocoa too.

Distillery Information

Engenho Novo da Madeira is a young company focused on transforming sugarcane into Agricultural Rum under the William Hinton brand. It was created in 2006 by one of the heirs of the Hinton family, who owned the largest sugarcane processing plant in Europe at the time Fbrica do Torreo from which he inherited the centenary column still, from which he still extracts rum.
