Domaines Rollan de By is a Bordeaux wine producer located in the Haut-Mdoc. The flagship Chteau of that name was purchased by Jean Guyon in 1989. He has since expanded the business to include several other chteaux, including Haut Condissas, Tour Seran and La Clare. Four of his estates are classified as Cru Bourgeois. This large estate produces covers 200ha (494 acres) of Mdoc land around the area of By. The planted vineyard covered a mere two hectares (5 acres) in 1989, when Jean Guyon purchased it. The chteau now farms 45ha (111 acres) of vineyards on clay and gravel soils. The site is planted to around 70 percent Merlot, with smaller plantings of Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc and Petit Verdot, with vines averaging 35 years old. The estate’s extensive wine portfolio includes red Bordeaux blends from the separate chteaux as well as The Collection Or, composed of Cru Bourgeois wines from the best fruit of each vineyard, a Chteau Rollan de By Ros, and Kosher wines from each chteaux, produced since 2001.
