Distilled at an unnamed Islay distillery in 1990, this single malt matured in a bourbon barrel for 31 years before being bottled in June 2022 for indie bottler Signatory Vintage’s Cask Strength Collection. Only 259 bottles of this spectacular Scotch whisky were produced.

Nose: Fresh like sweet seaweed and fruity notes of lemon zest. Smoke and some menthol and pine needles float above it. In addition, phenol and mineral notes.

Palate: Soft and oily on the tongue. At first surprisingly sweet with a little liquorice that fades into smoke and fresh citrus notes. In addition, salt and a mineral impression

Finish: Long-lasting and smoky sweet.

Distillery Information

Signatory was founded in 1988 by Andrew and Brian Symington and is best known for their Signatory Vintage Scotch Whisky independent bottlings including their Cask Strength and Un-Chill Filtered collections. With an initial plan to have all their bottles signed by the great and the good long since abandoned (the plan that gave the company its name), Signatory is now one of the largest independent whisky bottlers and even purchased Edradour distillery from Pernod Ricard in 2002 to boot.
