Tequila is a distilled alcoholic beverage made from the Blue Weber Agave plant. It is most often associated with Mexico, but can be found in many countries worldwide. Tequila is made from the distillation of fermented and mashed blue agave, through a process called distillation. The agave is cooked in an oven until it caramelizes, then it is crushed and cooked with water to create a mash. This mash is then fermented, distilled, and the resulting liquid is put into oak barrels to age. The aging process can take up to two years.
